Climb out of the forest and into the moorland zone, passing through heather and volcanic rock. Cross Shira Ridge and descend slightly to reach Shira 2 Camp, with breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo peak.
Today is crucial for acclimatization. Ascend to Lava Tower (4600 m), where you’ll stop for lunch. Then descend to Barranco Camp, located in a valley below the iconic Barranco Wall. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy aids in acclimatization.
Start by climbing the thrilling Barranco Wall (nicknamed “Breakfast Wall”), then traverse ridges and valleys toward Karanga Camp. This short but demanding day continues the acclimatization process, preparing you for summit night.
Hike steadily upward toward Barafu Camp, your base for summit night. Enjoy an early dinner, rest, and prepare gear for the final ascent. The landscape here is alpine desert—cold and windy with minimal vegetation.
Wake at midnight and begin your summit attempt under the stars. Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) at sunrise—Africa’s highest point! After photos and celebrations, descend to Barafu for brunch, then continue to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.
Enjoy a final breakfast before descending through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for a hot shower, rest, and celebration.

Tipping Guidelines
Tipping is an important tradition on Kilimanjaro climbs. Your mountain crew—guides, cooks, and porters—work tirelessly to support you on the trek, and tips are a meaningful way to show appreciation for their hard work.
- Lead Guide – USD 20–25
- Assistant Guide – USD 15–20
- Cook – USD 12–15
- Porter – USD 8–10
It is best to place tips in an envelope and give them to the lead guide, who will distribute fairly among the team.
Tips should be in US Dollars (clean, undamaged notes) or Tanzanian Shillings.
Tipping is not mandatory, but it is customary and greatly appreciated.
Larger groups usually share the tip equally among climbers.
If you feel service exceeded expectations, you are welcome to give more.
