WILDEBEEST SAFARIS

A wildebeest safari in Tanzania is an unforgettable adventure, taking you through some of the country’s most breathtaking national parks. From the vast plains of the Serengeti, where over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles embark on the Great Migration, to the Ngorongoro Crater, home to the Big Five and stunning landscapes, every moment is packed with incredible wildlife encounters. You’ll also explore Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees.

Whether you witness the dramatic Mara River crossings, the calving season, or the thrilling predator-prey interactions, this safari guarantees a front-row seat to nature’s greatest show. With expert guides, comfortable accommodations, and tailor-made itineraries, we ensure you experience the very best of Tanzania’s wildlife in a seamless and immersive way.

Where the Wildebeest Safari Takes You

1. Tarangire National Park—The Land of Giants

Your journey begins in Tarangire National Park, a stunning landscape filled with ancient baobab trees, golden savannahs, and a diverse range of wildlife. Known for its large elephant herds, Tarangire is home to thousands of these gentle giants, often seen gathering around the Tarangire River. Along with elephants, the park is home to lions, giraffes, zebras, leopards, and over 500 bird species, making it a paradise for wildlife lovers and photographers alike.

2. Ngorongoro Crater: A Natural Wonder

Next, you’ll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most unique and wildlife-rich areas in Africa. Formed by a collapsed volcano, the crater acts as a natural enclosure, supporting an incredible concentration of animals. Here, you’ll have a chance to spot the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rare black rhino—as well as large herds of wildebeest and zebras. The crater’s lush grasslands, shimmering lakes, and acacia forests create the perfect habitat for diverse species, offering some of the best game-viewing opportunities in Tanzania.

3. Serengeti National Park: Witness the Great Wildebeest Migration

The highlight of the wildebeest safari is the Serengeti National Park, famous for its endless plains and abundant wildlife. The Serengeti is home to one of the most incredible natural events in the world—the Great Wildebeest Migration. Every year, over 1.5 million wildebeest, along with hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, embark on a dangerous journey in search of greener pastures. This migration attracts numerous predators, and you may witness dramatic hunting scenes as lions, cheetahs, and crocodiles take advantage of the moving herds.

Depending on when you visit, you may experience:

  • December–March: The calving season in the southern Serengeti, when thousands of wildebeest give birth, attracting predators like lions and hyenas.
  • April–June: The herds move northward, crossing the Grumeti River, where crocodiles await their chance to strike.
  • July–October: The famous Mara River crossings in the northern Serengeti are one of the most thrilling and dramatic wildlife spectacles.
  • November: The herds return south, completing their endless cycle of survival.
