Tour Details

The Umbwe Route Kilimanjaro takes its name from the Kibosho Umbwe village in Moshi, located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its steep and challenging terrain, this route presents a difficult climb with little opportunity for acclimatization due to the altitude. Passing through the mountain forest up to the Umbwe cave campsite, the Umbwe Route Kilimanjaro eventually merges with the Machame, Lemosho, and Shira routes. The trek typically spans six days, culminating in an alternative ascent to the summit known as the Western Breach Route, which involves a strenuous climb of 850 meters over 2 kilometers and requires scrambling at certain points.

Depending on weather and physical conditions, there will be time for photos.
