The route and its name originated from Kibosho Umbwe village in Moshi on slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is a very challenging steep route making it difficult to climb. Due to the altitude the route does not provide a chance for acclimatization. This route is situated in the mountain forest of Kilimanjaro up to Umbwe cave campsite, it comes to join with Machame route, Lemosho route, Shira route. The trek is for six days with an after native route to the summit called the western breach route which is strenuous ascending 850m about 2km which requires scrambling ( climbing on hands and feet) at certain point .
