Tour Details

Machame Route: This is also known as the Whisky Route and is famous for its camping and spectacular views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau. The six days (6) are possible, but the seven days (7) are too much for acclimatization and resting before going to the summit (peak). 

We start our adventure through rainforests, moorlands, and alpine deserts, and finally, we reach the glaciers and Uhuru peak at 5895 m.

Itinerary

Day 1Moshi - Machame Gate - Machame Campsite

Elevation: 800 m—1800 m—3000 m 
Distance: 12km 
Hiking time: 5–7 hours 
Habitat: Montane forest
 
At every meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), the guide will be with you for a briefing of the next day ( point).

Day 2Machame Campsite - Shira Cave Campsite

Elevation: 3000 m to 3750 m 
Distance: 6 Km 
Hiking time: 4–5 hours 
Habitat: Moorlands. 
 
Here, before dinner, you will be able to experience a spectacular view of Mount Meru, the Shira Plateau, Kibo Peak, and the sun setting. 

Day 3Shira Cave Campsite - Baranco Campsite

Elevation: 3750 m, 4600 m and 3900 m 
Distance: 10km 
Hiking time: 5–7 7 hours 
Habitat: Moorland/Alpine desert. 
 
As it is important for acclimatization on this day, we will trek to lava tower 4600 m, and afterward, we will return to Baranco campsite 3900 m.

Day 4Baranco Campsite - Karanga Campsite

Elevation: 3900m – 4200m -3995m 
Distance: 6km 
Hiking time: 4-5 hours 
Habitat: Moorlands 
 
On this morning we will climb Baranco wall 4200 for acclimatization and cross ridges and valleys to Karanga campsite where we will have lunch , after lunch if your trek is for 6 Days you will continue to Barafu campsite where you will be served an early dinner at 1700hrs and a briefing about the summit (Peak) . For those who are on a 7 days trek will rest at this Karanga campsite.  

Day 5Karanga Campsite - Barafu Campsite

Elevation: 3995m – 4673m
Distance: 4 Km 
Hiking time: 3-4 hours 
Habitat: Alpine desert 
 
From Karanga campsite the trek is tough to Barafu campsite due to Altitude. The distance is short but steep the pace is slow. Here you will be served lunch and get briefing before taking a nap. Dinner will be served early then you will take a rest before midnight when will start our final climb to the highest peak of Africa ( Uhuru Peak) .

Day 6Barafu Hut Campsite/uhuru peak/Mweka Campsite

Elevation: 4673 m, 5895 m and 3100 m 
Distance: 17.5km 
Hiking time: 10–12 hours 
Habitat: Alpine desert and glacier 
 
Here, we wake up at midnight, and you are served a light breakfast before we start for the summit. The aim of starting at midnight before dawn is to make you able to climb to the summit because the trail is steep up to Stella Point (5756 m). At this point, you will start to view the glacier, crater, and sunrise before reaching Uhuru Peak, which will take us almost an hour’s walk. We will have a moment to take pictures, depending on the weather and physical conditions. After this, it’s our descent back to Barafu campsite for a short nap, followed by lunch, and getting ready to go down to Mweka campsite. At Mweka Camp, you will be provided with a small basin of hot water and a delicious meal before sleeping.

Day 7Mweka Campsite - Mweka Gate

Elevation: 3100 m to 1800 m 
Distance 10km 
Descending time: 3–4 hours 
Habitat: mountain forest 
 
This morning, we have a moment of celebration after breakfast. The crew sings and dances to the guests’ and friends’ traditional African and Jambo songs to commemorate the trek. Here you will have the chance to give tips to the guide, porters, and cook for their service. After that, we will descend to Mweka Gate, where you will sign out and be given your certificates, and then we will head directly to the hotel, where you will take a long hot shower and get a good rest.

We offer the following add-ons to your gear:

  • Private Toilet: USD 150
  • Private Tent: USD 5 per day
  • Thicker sleeping mattress: USD 10 per mattress
  • Thermarest: USD 15 per thermarest

Our packages by default include a foam sleeping mattress of 2 inches in thickness; if you want a thicker alternative, you can opt for a 4-inch foam mattress with the above-mentioned extra cost.

  • Moshi to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) (one way): USD 50 per vehicle

Also, private climbs and safaris are organized every day You should reserve your booking with us as soon as possible for any dates, any climbing route, or any safari with any number of participants.

• Note that we never add people to a private climb or safari without the group’s consent.

• We offer a 2-night hotel stay in Moshi with B+B; make sure you book your accommodation in Moshi rather than Arusha.
