This trek includes 7 full days on the mountain, offering incredible views of the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, and the Southern Icefields. Though slightly shorter than the 8-day option, this itinerary is carefully designed to maximize acclimatization and boost your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters.

Arrival Day

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where our friendly team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi, the gateway to Kilimanjaro. In the evening, meet your mountain guide for a detailed climb briefing and gear check. Use this time to rest, hydrate, and prepare for your adventure. Overnight stay in Moshi.

Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel

Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel is one of the first truly 4-stars boutique hotels in Moshi which provide great ambience and facilities. Located 4km from the Town of Moshi, 45 km away from Kilimanjaro national park, 40km away from the Kilimanjaro International airport. After breakfast, drive to Lemosho Gate (2,100 m) and complete park formalities. Trek through the lush Montane Forest, a prime zone for blue monkeys and colobus. The trail gradually ascends to Mti Mkubwa Camp. Dinner and overnight in the forest zone..

Climb out of the forest and into the moorland zone, passing through heather and volcanic rock. Cross Shira Ridge and descend slightly to reach Shira 2 Camp, with breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo peak.

Today is crucial for acclimatization. Ascend to Lava Tower (4,630 m), where you’ll stop for lunch. Then descend to Barranco Camp, located in a valley below the iconic Barranco Wall. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy aids in acclimatization.

Start by climbing the thrilling Barranco Wall (nicknamed “Breakfast Wall”), then traverse ridges and valleys toward Karanga Camp. This short but demanding day continues the acclimatization process, preparing you for summit night.

Hike steadily upward toward Barafu Camp, your base for summit night. Enjoy an early dinner, rest, and prepare gear for the final ascent. The landscape here is alpine desert—cold and windy with minimal vegetation.

Wake at midnight and begin your summit attempt under the stars. Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) at sunrise—Africa’s highest point! After photos and celebrations, descend to Barafu for brunch, then continue to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.
